Kyriacou Architects were engaged by Yarra Trams and PTV to assist in the planning and architectural design for new substations across Melbourne to power the new E-Class trams programme. The rollout of substations will cater for increased power requirements to supply the tram network to power the new trams.

The project involves feasibility studies for the design of the facades and integration of substation buildings within sensitive heritage and visually prominent urban sites across inner city Melbourne. Involving numerous stakeholders, including both local and state government, Kyriacou assisted in the planning, design, visual articulation and urban integration of the 15 new substations.
