Kyriacou are engaged by Laing O’Rourke within the Eastern Burke to Tram Rd Alliance (EBTA), to deliver the Architecture & Urban Design for the NELP South package. Kyriacou, in collaboration with BKK Architects and TCL Landscape Architects, won the tender design phase for the project, leading subsequent stages into the current construction phase. Aligning with the NELP Urban Design Strategy, we led the design resolution of the full scope, including:
– major interchange with the tunnel connecting the M80 and M3
– full freeway-to-freeway interchange with the Eastern Freeway
– additional lanes to the Eastern Freeway, including express lanes and the construction of the Doncaster Busway
– 4 new bridges for pedestrians and cyclists spanning the breadth of the freeway connecting municipalities
– civil infrastructure including noise walls, retaining walls and urban design features, and
– new and upgraded cycling infrastructure.

The South Package – one of four secondary packages – will widen the Eastern Freeway between Bourke Road in the west and Tram Road in the east, modernising a vital artery, slashing congestion and bridging the gap in Melbourne’s orbital road network.
